Starting and finishing lakeside in the picturesque Walker City Park, this event is just one of many “Old Fashioned” 4th of July festival activities in scenic Walker MN. Join the 4th of July fun in Walker MN by starting your festival with an invigorating 10k Walk/Run. For serious runners the event offers chip timing and a fast, flat course. This event limited to 350 participants so register early!
- USATF certified course
- Course start/finish is at the Lighthouse at the Walker City Beach
- Runners/walkers stay to the right on roads & trails but follow the course clockwise
- Four water stops.
- The course was designed with three objectives:
- To have some character; not just an out and back.
- Scenic; the course runs through Walker and along both Walker Bay and Lake May
- Flat and fast. The Walker area is notoriously hilly yet this course is very flat.
- Awards given to top three male & female finishers overall.
- Awards given to top male & female finishers by age division.
- Age divisions are: 19U, 20 – 29, 30 – 39, 40 -49, 50 – 59, 60+
The City on the Bay 10k kicks off the Fourth of July celebration in Walker. Other activities include a parade, kids games in the City Park, (the same park the 10k starts/finishes in) food vendors, live music and beer garden. The celebration culminates at dark with fireworks shot off over Walker Bay, which is filled with lighted boats viewing the show.
You won't want to miss Fourth of July in Walker, Minnesota. Along with all of these activities, the town's shops and restaurants are all still open for business inviting people in to discover the treasures and delights that await them.

Porta-Johns will be at the race start/finish and at miles 1.3 and 2.5.
Water & Gatoraide stops are at miles: 1.35, 2.42, 3.32, 4.70
T-Shirts are by order paid registrations are received.

YOUR OLD SNEAKERS ARE WORTH MORE THAN YOU THINK!
Please consider bringing your old, retired running shoes to the run/walk with you. A “Green Sneakers” collection box will be at pre-registration and the start/finish line. Green Sneakers distributes shoes to impoverished people around the world. Green Sneakers drop boxes can be found and all WACC events and inside the lobby of the WACC.
